OK America, you want to play a little game with equality do ya? Then I propose that gay lobbyists begin to work toward getting FEMA passed in the next 4 years.

The Federal Elimination of Marriage Act.

It will eliminate all current US sanctioned marriages, as they now stand. And since gays, according to all those "experts" have the exact same rights as heterosexuals under domestic partnerships/civil unions...well, its very clear that can now be extended to everyone - gay, straight, purple, pink or sporting three eyeballs.

All those loving couples will need to sign new contractual agreements or be allowed to bow out of their traditional, committed relationships. We'll just start from scratch and save everyone some cash trying to legislate this damn social issue.

A word of warning though...you'll need a damn good lawyer to piece together the 1,138 other Federal and State institutional benefits that you once took for granted under your equal to civil unions "marriage."

If you want a religious ceremony, then go to your church - that's your business...but it has absolutely no legal standing...just a party to celebrate your consensual love. Hmmm, sound familiar?

The good news for the gay community is that our new President is actually a proponent of this proposal. I think we should stop wasting our time and money fighting for gay marriage and just get down to brass tacks, eliminate all the current heterosexual "special" rights and benefits. No one gets a damn thing from the government. You are just an individual citizen. No more special deductions for kids or being married or head of household or owning a business...nada. Pay your taxes and vote and mind your own damn business.. End of story.
