Honestly, I am disappointed. Utah had a few places that I intended to visit in the next 12 months as part of my Travel Goals...the Arches, Moab, etc. That is not going to happen now.Given the amount of money that Utah residents/businesses felt compelled to "donate" to the Yes on 8 campaign to effectively buy Californians votes with fearful misinformed ads and thus write the Mormon moral code into law for a State that is not even their own has given rise to an absolute anger within me that dictates a principle of total non-support.
The gay community and their supporters need to send a very real message to Utah residents in the form of an economic boycott of their State, businesses, services and travel. And Utah is obviously worried about this because they are now running tourism ads on the CA airwaves.
More ads intended now to gain our CA wallets to support more of their hate? How many Californians are going to fall for this? Or even gay residents in other states? Say NO to Utah.

Change will only happen when enough people put undue pressure on these groups to stop selling their hate, discrimination and now writing their religious beliefs in law.
It means sending letters to Utah to put them on notice and then following through by keeping your money out of their economic flow. It also means contacting Sundance and other companies that do business in Utah annually and letting them know what they would be supporting by doing business in this State.
In fact, Sundance you need to go do business in Massachusetts or Connecticut for the next few years.
The war is on. They've won a few battles this election year...fine its over, but now is the time to let them know they have awoken a giant that has every intention of crushing them and winning the war to gain equality within the next 7 years. Protest marches are great for visibility, but we need to force the momentum forward via other avenues as a collective economic group.
This is not Obama's fight to win for us. The time to unite under one movement is now...to elect certain people to leadership, but also to form a organized grassroot movement that strategically advance our equality while dismantling their bigotry.

Some things we all need to do:
- Know where the money came from. Don't believe that Utah poured cash into CA's election? - its public record, just take a minute to look.
- Put Utah on notice, let Utah's Governor know your money is staying out of his State. Then make sure he feels it. It's his job to grow their economy, but its our money they use to fund it.
- Write a letter to Utah's tourism leaders notifying them that you will not support their economy.
- Notify small travel and tourist businesses that depend on our money that when religion and politics mix that businesses will suffer.
- Notify airlines that fly into Utah and hotels that bed us that we don't support what this State did...and thus will not be boarding those flights or staying at their Hiltons/Marriotts. SouthWest Airlines is just one.
- Contact Sundance organizers and all of its sponsors to stay out of Utah and any other State that supports discrimination against gays or face an economic boycott of their services/products. We have other choices.
- Contact their local media and let them know we are here in numbers and our money will be staying out of Utah.
- Do not support LDS businesses. It might take a little research, but make sure products that you us aren't coming from this State and more specifically any LDS owned business.
- Educate yourself on the Mormon church and how they fund their war chest.
- Write your Senator, Governor, district reps and the IRS demanding that the Mormon Church's tax-exempt status be investigated and removed due to their political lobbying. Why should we have to raise our CA sales tax while they do a million dollar business here tax-free? - its time to pay the piper. They are the ones that crossed the lines between Church & State.

Gay dollars and those of their supporters need to stay within gay and gay-friendly business communities. Money is apparently all that some people understand. Support equality and we will support you. The gay community needs to stop playing nice and stop being so naive of how things get done. We are not going to win this by marching every weekend alone.
